Dear brother Priests, dear Religious Sisters, Brothers and Priests, and dear Friends,

It is with great joy and gratitude to the Lord that I write this note to you thanking you, in my own name and in the name of the Core Committee of the Congress, for your valuable assistance for the success of the recently held GOA MISSION CONGRESS under the title of “Devachea Mogacho Somarombh” and with the theme: “Jezuchea Mogachea Ujean Devacho Mog Ximpddaum-ia”. The feedback about the Congress has been very positive and all agree that it was a great success.

However the “Celebration of God’ Love” is not over. That celebration has to continue and now with added vigour, for the more and the longer we continue the better will be its effect in our own faith life, individually and collectively. To keep the celebration lively and energetic, we need your continued assistance. You know that the main theme of this Mission Congress was: Inflamed by the Love of Jesus, spread God’s Love the world around! In order to better interiorize and deepen the content of this theme we had chosen three sub-themes for the three days of the Congress, keeping in mind the three stages of faith impact in our lives:

Day 1: Faith received/experienced:

“Yet I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me” (Gal. 2:20)

Day 2: Faith deepened and lived in our day to day living:

“For the love of Christ impels us ….” (2Cor 5: 14)

Day 3: Faith lived and shared with others:

“…woe to me if I do not preach it!” (1Cor 9:16)

The main theme and the three sub-themes convey to us one clear message. We must be on our job without delay. God’s love that we experienced in and through Jesus impels us to spread it, and woe to me if I do not share it with others. Acknowledging this, the Mission Congress before concluding gave a Message which invites and urges us to share this love of God with one and all. I am enclosing/ attaching a copy of the same requesting you to give it maximum publicity through the bulletins of your Parish, of the SCCs, Associations, and Religious Congregations, and to use it for reflection and discussion at the meetings of the SCCs, of Parish Pastoral Councils, and of other Associations like the CFC, CFM, Marriage Encounter, Legion of Mary, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, Catechists, Teachers in the Schools and Colleges, Youth, Altar Servers, Ushers, St. Luke’s Medical Guild, Nurses’ Guild, Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Catholic Association of Goa, etc – let the Message be reflected upon and discussed in all these Associations as well as Religious Houses in such a way that each individual member and the Association/ Community to which he/she belongs to can make Jesus known and loved through the love they bear for one another and through their loving service to all, especially the poor and downtrodden, and to people of other faiths and cultural traditions by reaching out to heal the many causes of conflict and animosity within our communities.

In order to make a conscious effort to achieve this goal involving all sections of the People of God in Goa, we invite you for a meeting at the Archbishops’ House, Panjim on 5th March at 3.30 pm and look forward to your active participation.

Fraternally Yours,

Fr. Saturnino Dias

(Convenor)
