Venue
The Goa Mission Congress is organised in preparation for the Western Region Mission Congress to take place at Pilar, Goa beginning at 1.00 PM on 16 and ending at 1.00 PM on 19 April 2009. This in turn is in preparation for National Mission Congress at Bombay from 14-18 October 2009. All these are in response to the appeal made at the end of “Orientations and Priorities” of the Asian Mission Congress.
Date and Language
The Goa Mission Congress will be held on 6-7-8 February 2009 beginning at 10.00 AM on 6 and concluding with the Eucharist in the evening of 8. Advent will be used for preparation of the people, while Lent is to be for preparation of people for the Western Region Mission Congress. Konkani will be the main language while Marathi and Gujarati will also be used for the sake of Daman and Diu. English translations will be made available.
General Theme
Taking the lead from Lk 12:49: "I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!” the general theme chosen is: “Jezuchea Mogachea Ujean Devacho Mog Ximpddaum-ia.
Fr. Saturnino Dias who is the Convenor of the Goa Mission Congress informed further that the Sub-themes for each day, the Theme Song, and the Logo are being worked out. He said eight Committees have been formed beside the Executive Committee and the two Secretariats, one General headed by himself and one at the venue, Pilar, headed by Fr. Nazareth Fernandes, SFX. Soon Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao of Goa & Daman will issue a Circular on the Mission Congress and an appropriate Prayer for the success of Mission Congress will also be sent to all the parishes and institutions.
